Comments: Even though listed as zone 4 and elevation 6,500' seems to do fine in Alamosa. Tolerates seasonal extremes, city pollution, and wind.
Warnings: Protect bark from sun scald (with shade or tree wrap) for at least two years after planting. Has thorny, forked spines. Susceptible to caterpillars. Defoliates in response to temperature changes and drought. Not wind tolerant.
