Zapata Park: Alamosa Arbor Week 2010
Jan Oen and Don Thompson generously donated an 'Autumn Blaze' Maple for Zapata Park.
1) The tree and shredded-bark mulch are ready for the planting. 2) The wonderful hole was dug by the Alamosa City crew of Salomon Archuleta and Jeremy Arellano. Note, the hole is a bit more than two times wider than the root ball and just 2 inches deeper than the root ball allowing for 2 inches of mulch. 3) Jan loosens circling roots -- tree is a bit root bound but should do OK. Don looks on. 4) Jan and Don back fill the hole. 5) Jan, Don, Salomon, and Jeremy -- a job well done!
